encapsulation and Testing Engineer (Multiple Positions)

Optony Inc. is a developer and manufacturer of state-of-the-art thin-film photovoltaic cells and modules, and our manufacturing facility is located in HangZhou, China. We are looking for highly motivated and goal oriented hands-on Engineers and Scientists to join our team. Relocation assistance may be available for exceptional candidates. What You'll Do:

  • Develop an encapsulating/packaging process for our photovoltaic modules, including material selection and process development. The process needs to be qualified through accelerated lifetime testing as well as mechanical cycling.
  • Lead implementation, testing and scale-up of photovoltaic packaging from concept in lab to pilot production and manufacturing.
  • Drive correlation of process configurations to product performance.
  • Perform failure analysis on devices and process development.
  • Document and communicate results both internally and to our scale-up partners.
  • Recommend engineering and manufacturing changes to obtain design objectives in the most economical manner possible.

What You'll Need:

  • M.S. in Chemical, Electrical, or Materials engineering (concentration on semiconductor materials/polymers desirable) or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and experience in packaging methodologies and reliability testing.
  • 3+ years hands-on experience in PV product encapsulation, and the ability to design, build and test packaging equipment.
  • Knowledge of packaging materials, adhesives, interconnect materials and their vendors.
  • Successfully completed design, qualification, and introduction of electronics packaging, including design rules, drawings, prototyping, reliability screening, industry certification, and manufacturing volume ramp-up are desirable.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel and higher power data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in processes such as thermo-compression bonding, conductive polymers, pressure contacts, potting materials, and structural adhesives desirable.
