Director of Product Development

Optony Inc. is a developer and manufacturer of state-of-the-art thin-film photovoltaic cells and modules, and our headquarter office is in Silicon Valley, CA and our manufacturing facility is located in HangZhou, China. We are looking for highly motivated and goal oriented hands-on Engineers and Scientists to join our team. What You'll Do:

• Innovation in material preparation, device fabrication/design, and data collection.
• Develop prototype products and design building blocks to provide reference design for photovoltaic applications.
• Build, validate and test prototype products incorporating photovoltaic devices for consumer, industrial and government applications.
• Identify problems and potential solutions to enhance material quality and device efficiency accordingly.
• Work with internal engineers, component vendors, and customers on product design.
• Overview current photovoltaic technologies and help develop strategic plan for company’s next generation of products.
• Coordinate and provide documentation suitable for regulatory approvals (UL, CSA, IEC etc.) and customer operations.
• Prepare proposals for government and private research grants.

What You'll Need:

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or equivalent.
• 10+ years of experience in photovoltaic industry scoping from cell to module; concentrating PV and CIGS thin-film PV experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills and experience interacting with multiple parties.
• Experienced with AC grid connected applications including DC-AC conversion, use and selection of inverters, connectors and busses meeting code for specific applications.
• Demonstrated capability of problem solving; capable of taking an undefined problem and identifying solvable approaches.
• Up to 30% of time to travel internationally.
